Shannons is truly a sanctuary, it has clean bathrooms and hot clean showers. It is quiet and peaceful and the owners are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place over and over. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

If you plan on visiting this campground with a large group of people I recommend finding somewhere else to stay. My husband and I recently stayed with a group of friends and had a horrible experience. The owners were rude, unreasonable, condescending and literally shouted obscenities at us when our group did not immediately get in our tents during their quiet hours. I have never been treated so rudely in my adult life and will never return. The majority of our group left a day early rather then let the owners continue to be confrontational. I am very disappointed. We camped here in a Tent.

From the moment we spoke on the phone, the management here was so friendly. They answered all our questions and were so hospitable. The camp site is nicely maintained. The river is very pretty but there has been so much rain that the beach was under water. The showers were clean and hot. The staff was so friendly. There is a bit of lack of privacy between tent sites and we had to be very careful not to keep our neighbors up...however, all in all, we felt the site was great and we had a wonderful time. Marcia is so sweet and we will come back again and camp by the river...which is a bit more private :) We camped here in a Tent.

We visited this campground so that we could spend a day canoeing the Saco River. The sites were nicely wooded which afforded some welcomed privacy. The campground doesn't only allow pets, they truly welcome them and their owners. We rented our canoe from Woodland Acres and they transported us, the canoe and our dog upriver so that we could canoe back down, ending back at the campground. The Saco river is gorgeous with clear water and many sandy beaches on which to picnic or even camp. The campground has a nicely stocked store with average prices and friendly and knowledgeable staff. There are only a couple of caveats to this campground. One is that the swimming area is across the river, meaning you have to "ford" the river or walk out of the campground and over a bridge to get there. The second is that it tends to be a little noisy on Friday nights when large groups of people arrive to camp and then spend the next day canoeing. This was not a problem for us, as we thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment! Saturday night is quieter as most people had canoed all day with the accompanying beverages. We loved it here and will definitely be back. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a CG with very large sites, nearly all shaded. This is a canoeing/kayaking campground, right on the Saco River. Everyone we met was into this river recreation. Seemed to be mainly young adults, with no small children in sight. Nice CG with somewhat limited facilities to entertain the kids, unless they are into kayaking. We camped here in a Motorhome.
