Tips from campers about Bootleg Campground

  • 49DAY Take CA-108 west (to Sonora and the Central Valley) from US-395. It was a beautiful drive to the pass. But, not recommended to take a RV over the pass (unless it is a truck camper). There are warnings prohibiting long trailers over the pass (28% grade and narrow winding 2 lane road). I would not recomment taking anything longer than 35' overall length. Even then, you'll be crossing the center line during some turns. Bridgeport is a nice little town with many places to eat. Mainly burgers and a BBQ places. We ate at The Barn and their burgers were very good. Next time, I'll order a corndog and onion rings. They look very good. Oh, gas is expensive in Bridgeport, so fuel up before getting here.

Question:

I read that the campground is "closed" in mid September. Does that just mean the host has left, or that a gate is closed?...
