Effingham has (almost) any fast food or chain restaurant you can think of. Walmart is 10 minutes away. The closest store is Dollar General, maybe 5 minutes away. Rent kayaks from Rusty Reel and visit Pinky's for lunch. Take your kids to the public beach right down the road. Visit the Ballard Nature Center or walk the Effingham Trec Trails. If visiting in...

Tips from campers about Lake Sara Campground
- Kevin_Lexi Effingham has (almost) any fast food or chain restaurant you can think of. Walmart is 10 minutes away. The closest store is Dollar General, maybe 5 minutes away. Rent kayaks from Rusty Reel and visit Pinky's for lunch. Take your kids to the public beach right down the road. Visit the Ballard Nature Center or walk the Effingham Trec Trails. If visiting in October - absolutely make the drive to Arthur (50 min drive) and visit The Great Pumpkin Patch. Or for something closer/smaller check out Schaefer Pumpkin Patch in Beecher (20 min away). There's a farmers market in town Effingham every Saturday 8AM-12PM starting in late spring going into fall.
