- rvrev2 Beware the short, gravel drive leading from the highway to the park. Some places were badly wash-boarded to the tune of we had to go 1 or 2 mph to not violently shake to death. This was a very short area, however. Nearby to the west is Fort Larned - an old west military fort museum, and to the east is the Santa Fe Trail and also a Boy Scout museums. - CW35 This is a county campground about 5 miles west of Larned. You will travel on about a 1 mile gravel/dirt road upon entrance. Convenience stores in town as well as groceries and fast food, restaurants. Nice place for a 1-2 day stay out in the country away from it all.8 years ago Camp Pawnee
