Tips from campers about The Colonies RV & Travel Park
- DEV-MNV Made our reservation 4 months in advance. Stay on the riverside spaces. No sewer, dump on your way out at station.10 months ago Emma Long Metropolitan Park
- Judi and John Although this is Texas, the terrain near the park is extremely hilly and often quite steep. We encountered one 10% grade on the way in. No staff were apparent at arrival, although a park person did drive through the campground on one day. Reserve in advance but it's self-serve when you arrive. This wasn't a big problem. Swimming was good. There is woodsy walk along a bluff behind the campground, but it was too hot to hike.1 year ago Emma Long Metropolitan Park
- rnorth2727 You access the park from City Park Road. The first mile of this road is very steep; you are climbing to the top of a ridge and then most of the remaining road is along the top of the ridge. You need to be prepared to use a lot of power if you're pulling a heavy trailer or toad. Also bad when descending the last mile when leaving the park. We needed lower gear and lots of brake.3 years ago Emma Long Metropolitan Park

Site was quiet, soggy after rain (poor drainage), no lighting, so very dark at night. We camped at The Colonies RV & Travel Park in a Motorhome.

Tip for Other Campers:
Fort Monroe National Monument is a short walk. Definitely worth seeing. Beach/swimming area also within walking distance. If you live to fish, great place to fish in the bay. Music and drinks at Oozlefinch. Certain nights they have food trucks.
