Tip for Other Campers:
Town of Galax has some nice shops, but the highlight of this area is the parkway and the music center. The campground recommended a few day trips to Hillsville, Fancy Gap, and the parkway and all were wonderful.

Sites are spacious, on gravel. Area is well maintained and clean. There is a nice walking path in the back that borders a farm with views of livestock, barns and great opportunities for birding here....

Tips from campers about Cool Breeze Campground
- KK And Pa Take Bowerman road off Hwy 517 to get to park. Don't come in on 146 like maps suggests.1 year ago Galveston Bay RV Resort & Marina
- Steve & Linda Houston Well the roads leading to the RV park was missing street sign off fm517 (Bowermen). The road construction was terrible every where in and around the general area. But close to Galveston Isand and Houston. Approx 30 min. Amazing Beaches, enjoyed some Mardi Gra festive parade and the Rodeo in Houston
- Roamalee Youre very close to Texas City, which is an OK area but with plenty of stores and restaurants and that sort of thing lots of chain restaurants. If you go further north, you have a better variety and more sort of upscale look I think.1 year ago Galveston Bay RV Resort & Marina

The Blue Ridge Music Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway is a must. A lot of history regarding the origins of American music. Blue Ridge music center, Floyd, Galax and Mount Airy are great day trips. A float/kayak trip on the New river at Fries is awesome! Didn't have time to bike the New river trail...that'll be next time
